The Poetry Phonotheque has arrived to NYC!

Beloved poets and lovers of poetry,

I’m thrilled to announce a partnership that’s very close to my heart! I’ve joined forces with the creative agency Ars Poetica, founded by the wonderful Lisa Ann Markuson, to amplify the global impact of poetry. Together, Poetic Phonotheque and Ars Poetica are committed to making poetry more inclusive, diverse, and accessible to all—ensuring that poets worldwide get the visibility and opportunities they deserve.

Our Shared Vision: Expanding Poetry’s Reach Worldwide

For those who might be new to Poetic Phonotheque, it’s an international multimedia poetry archive I founded 5 years with the aim of documenting and preserving the voices of poets from all corners of the globe. We have headquarters in Denmark through Red Door Magazine, in Sweden through Kultivera, in Wales through Write4Word, and our dream is to keep expanding, but first, it needed to arrive to New York, where it all started. Through Poetic Phonotheque, we collect and share poetry through recordings and film festivals, creating a lasting archive that celebrates poets’ voices across different languages, cultures, and experiences.

In collaboration with Ars Poetica, our shared mission is to:

  • Showcase poets from diverse backgrounds and highlight the richness of the global poetry scene.
  • Provide fair compensation and publishing opportunities to poets.
  • Strengthen poetry’s presence in the cultural and economic spheres.
  • Expand global access to poetry, offering unconventional ways for poets to be represented.

Our Fundraising Campaign: Help Us Build the Future of Poetry

As part of this exciting partnership, we are launching a fundraising campaign, which kicks off on March 12, 2025 at the Bowery Poetry Club in New York during a special edition of SE BUSCAN POETAS (Poets Wanted). This event will celebrate Poetic Phonotheque and the incredible work we’re doing to preserve and amplify poetry.

Here’s what your support will help fund:

  • The protection, distribution, and promotion of our growing international archive of poets.
  • The production of new anthologies, literary awards, and stipends to support poets in their creative journeys.
  • The creation of the Poet Ambassador Program and literary grants to provide further opportunities for poets.

Ars Poetica has already pledged $20,000 to help kickstart this initiative, and our goal is to raise $100,000. We’re inviting the poetry community to help us reach this goal by matching this pledge. Every donation counts, and you can contribute directly through Givebutter.com/poetrytakeover

Your donations will be retroactively tax-deductible from February 7, once Poetic Phonotheque’s 501c3 nonprofit status is fully approved. (It is already a registered org, but we’re just waiting for NY state’s final stamp).

Join Us at the Launch Event!

The official launch event will be held on March 12, and we’d love for you to join us. It’s going to be a celebration of poetry and a moment to connect with the poets, artists, and thinkers shaping poetry’s future. The event will feature live poetry performances, an open mic hosted by poet Marcos de la Fuente, and a chance to meet Lisa Ann, myself, and the teams behind Poetic Phonotheque and Ars Poetica. It’s an opportunity to be part of something that will hopefully strengthen the future of our poets during these shaky times.

This partnership is a pivotal step forward in ensuring that poetry remains inclusive, diverse, and woven into the cultural and social fabric of the world. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Thank you for your support and for believing in poetry’s power to connect us all.

With love and words,
Madam Neverstop
