Dear worldthreaders,
Oct 8 to the 13 is the celebration of Red Door’s 15th anniversary and the arrival of RESONANS FRINGE FESTIVAL, which I found to be the most appropriate way of marking the occasion (and the most challenging also, which is probably why it was so exciting to try).

For the past 11 months I’ve been conspiring and concocting collaborations and curating a program that is worthy of the quality of any Red Door project. I have been incredibly fortunate to have venues, organizations, funding institutions and most importantly, artists, saying yes to my proposal. I am specially grateful for the collaboration I have established with Canadian poet Patrick Horner, who accepted my invitation to become the co-director of NATURE & CULTURE – International Poetry Film Festival, and helped shape it into a film festival I never could’ve imagined being a part of. Plus EMPIRE BIO said yes, and that’s our favorite cinema in the neighborhood, so now it feels just perfect.
The festival will take place on October 13, screening 35 films, including a talk with film director Lars Movin and several director introductions and poetry readings. The tickets are only 100kr for the whole day so you can walk in and out as you see fit. Please reserve your seat here.

I am also incredibly excited about the beauty of RESONANCE IS US, the limited-edition book publication that is also RED DOOR MAGAZINE’s #37 issue, which looks so damn good because multimedia artist Daniel Malpikka said yes to being the art director of the project (and the Kone foundation gave their support for this collaboration. We’ll have copies during the festival but if you already know you’d like to reserve one, please do so here.

Amongst the many activities I’ve occupied myself with lately, I am super proud to announce that RED THREAD is now a forening… a non-profit cultural organization based in Denmark. The board members, Lalo Barrubia (SE), Dominic Williams (UK), Daniel Malpikka (FIN) Anders Hansen (DK) and I have met to establish it and its grounding statutes so it is ready for all of you to become members during the festival and afterwards, with two levels. One, a regular membership, to have a vote during the general assembly, receive a digital version of the magazine, and give your support to the on-going projects, like the gallery and magazine. The other membership, CONTRIBUTOR, is so you can have a more active role in the future of our projects and help shape RED DOOR into a collective that is representative of our diverse cultural landscape.

And lastly of course, RESONANS FRINGE itself, with around 30 events, 6 solo exhibitions, a film festival, a bookfair, a street party! People coming from Colombia, Mexico, the US, India, Europe… to celebrate this multimedia, multicultural, multilingual gathering in honor of Red Door’s 15th anniversary.
